How it all began...
We started with a simple contact-tracing tool to track who was coming and going on site (now our attendance feature). From there, we expanded into a complete safety and compliance tool, digitising the key site tasks contractors told us they struggled with most.
We saw firsthand how much time was lost to paperwork and how much risk came from compliance gaps. Listening to our customers, we focused on engaging the worker - because safety, connection, and compliance all start with them.
Today, Breadcrumb is in the pockets of over 1 million workers globally and trusted on more than 50,000 construction projects in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland.

What’s with the name?
Like every piece of serious software, our name was inspired by a fairytale.
Breadcrumb is based on the story of Hansel and Gretel, who famously left a trail of breadcrumbs to find their way home.
On construction sites, a "breadcrumb" is the digital footprint someone leaves when following safety processes. Each sign-in, completed induction, or signed safety doc is a breadcrumb that helps everyone see the path and stay safe.
It’s about making safety visible, simple, and connected - from the worksite to head office.
